Wang Kun, a singer, was born in 1925, and his ancestral home is in Tang County, Hebei Province. 1945 graduated from the drama and music department of Lu Yi, Yan' an. He once played the leading role of Xi 'er in the new opera White-haired Girl, and performed Yangko Opera "Brother and Sister Open up Land" and "Couple Literacy". Later, he worked as an actor in the Art Troupe of North China United University. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), he worked as an actor in the Central Experimental Opera House, under the guidance of Soviet expert Medvedev and China singer Lin Junqing. 1954 entered the Central Conservatory of Music for further study. Later, he served as the director and head of the Art Committee of the Oriental Song and Dance Troupe, the fourth member of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the second and third directors of the China Music Association, and the fourth executive committee of the All-China Women's Federation. He is a deputy to the 11th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the 1st to 3rd National People's Congresses, and a member of the 5th and 6th China People's Political Consultative Conference. He has participated in the performance of the large-scale music and dance epic "Dongfanghong".
In September, 2005, he was hired as a tutor for master students in China Academy of Art.
