The local Dong people gathered together to celebrate the Year of Dong with hundreds of banquets and folk performances. Dong people believe that the year of labor has passed, crops are abundant after autumn, livestock are flourishing, farming is all completed, and the new year is coming soon.
So some places regard November of the lunar calendar as the beginning of the new year, and some places regard it as the end of the old year. It is considered as the end of the old year here. When people think that the old year has passed and the new year is coming, the valleys of Man Cang are full of livestock and poultry, and every household kills pigs and sheep to celebrate. This is the New Year celebration of the Dong people year after year.
Dong village in 72 villages in Rongjiang area holds activities to celebrate the New Year from the end of October to the beginning of November in the lunar calendar. Celebrating the Year of Dong here is mainly to offer sacrifices to the elderly and remember their ancestors. On the occasion of the new year, before and after every household cleans the house, men, women and children put on new clothes, people slaughter pigs and cows, and rake glutinous rice in spring. 1 1 month 1 day to 1 1 month 5, and other large-scale activities were held. Some young people took this opportunity to hold weddings and entertain relatives and friends.
