"Ten Scenes of West Lake" refers to the famous tourist attraction West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province and its surrounding ten characteristic scenery. The most famous ones are Su Causeway Xiao Chun, Broken Bridge Canxue, Quyuan Fenghe, Huagang Fish Watching, Liulang Warm, Leifeng Sunset, Santan Yinyue, Pinghu Qiuyue, Twin Peaks Inserting Clouds, Nanping Night Bell in Southern Song Dynasty, etc.
Leifeng sunset
The Leifeng Pagoda in Zhao Xi is the place where Fahai traps white snakes. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, due to the folk legend that the bricks and stones of Leifeng Tower have the function of "exorcising evil spirits" and "fitting people", people kept stealing and selling bricks and stones, and the Leifeng Tower finally collapsed at 1924. For this reason, Mr. Lu Xun created On the Collapse of Leifeng Tower. Later, in order to restore the glory of Lei Feng's sunset, in 2002, Lei Feng's new tower was rebuilt in situ, and the site of Lei Feng's ancient pagoda was located on the B 1 floor of Lei Feng's new tower.
Nowadays, climbing Leifeng Tower has become a necessary project to visit the West Lake. The old custom of "stealing bricks and stones" to ward off evil spirits and suit men has also become a "new custom" of throwing a dollar coin at the site of Leifeng Pagoda. As long as the weather conditions are ok, on the top floor of Leifeng Tower, you can overlook the rippling West Lake, the beautiful and dignified Wangzhuang, the new scenic spots on the southern line and the three green islands in the middle of the lake.
Jingci Temple
The first temple visited that day was Jingci Temple, which is located at the foot of Huiri Peak in Pingshan, south of Leifeng Pagoda.
This temple was built in the Five Dynasties, and has undergone numerous destruction and reconstruction (sometimes only a few decades between completion and re-destruction). Today, it still stands at the foot of Nanping Mountain. It is really a thousand-year-old temple.
For more than 1000 years, countless monks have come to different monasteries all over the country to preside over Jingci Temple and preach Buddhism. At the same time, Japanese monks traveled across the ocean to Jingci Temple to learn from famous monks, and then brought what they had learned back to their hometown to expand Zen.
Nanping Wanzhong Scenic Area
Jingci Temple's famous bell tower has a huge bronze bell hanging from the top of the second floor. Upstairs, the porch window is open, and you can see the scenery in the yard. This is Nanping Night Clock, one of the ten scenic spots in the West Lake.
On both sides of the courtyard gate, there are two stone tablets inscribed by Kangxi and Gan Long Sun Ye, namely "Nanping Xiao Zhong" and "Nanping Night Bell". Every day at dusk, the bell rings, and the long and distant bell reverberates on Nanping Mountain for a long time until dusk arrival.
Taiziwan
Not far from Jingci Temple to the west, you can walk to Taiziwan Park. Here is an open park, free of tickets, without obvious courtyard walls. The scenery is very similar to some small mountain villages in Europe, quiet and peaceful. Originally a wedding theme park, it became more famous later, probably because of the tulip flower show in early spring every year.
The above is for reference only.
