Nanjing General Hospital of Nanjing Military Region, formerly the National Central Hospital, is China’s first large-scale national general hospital. It is a large-scale modern comprehensive tertiary-level hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, and health care. Referred to as "(Nanjing) Military Region General Hospital". Clinical School of Nanjing University School of Medicine, Clinical School of Southern Medical University, Second Military Medical University and other teaching hospitals. In 1994, it was among the first to be rated as a "Third Class A Hospital". In 1999, it was awarded the title of "National Top 100 Hospitals". In 2000, it was approved by the Ministry of Personnel to establish a postdoctoral research workstation for the first time in the national hospital system. In July 2003, hospital medicine and surgery were approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and the Ministry of Education as disciplines with the right to confer doctoral degrees. In the same year, the hospital won the title of "National Model Unit for Supporting Government and Loving the People". In 2004, it became the Military Postdoctoral Management Information Center.
