Poor hearing in one ear has little effect on the whole child. Patients with congenital microtia are not only atresia of external auditory canal, but also hypoplasia of middle ear, so even opening external auditory canal will not have obvious effect. Moreover, the technology of external auditory canal is still immature, and it is easy to be locked again. In the future, we should be careful not to enter the water. The scar left by the external auditory canal surgery first will also affect the external ear reconstruction in the future. Therefore, our view is that unilateral ear deformity does not need hearing surgery, but only external ear reconstruction. Thousands of cases have proved that the effect is good and both patients and parents can accept it.
