Preparation of feather pet specimens

The first thing I will introduce to you is the making of feather pet specimens. Here we take parrots as an example. Although the shape is small, it is complete, and we can still make it into a complete parrot specimen.

Before making, the tools used are now ready, such as cotton, pliers, tweezers, scalpel, needle and thread, 14 iron wire, binding thread, artificial eye, etc. When tools are ready, we can make them. The preparation of parrot specimens is generally divided into seven steps: preparing antiseptic solution, peeling, antiseptic treatment, making skeleton, filling and sewing, plastic fixation.

The first step is to prepare antiseptic liquid. The disinfectant we use here is a mixture of phenol, alum and camphor, which is generally configured according to the ratio of 1: 3: 0. 1. Camphor can play the role of anti-corrosion, anti-mildew and anti-insect. Besides, you need to prepare talcum powder.

Let's start the autopsy First, pull the feathers off the parrot's abdomen to expose it. The first cut starts from the abdomen. Carefully cut an incision about 6 cm long from the upper abdomen with a scalpel, and peel off the skin to the leg first. For the convenience of operation, the joint should be cut off. When dissecting, a certain amount of blood, grease and water will flow out of pets, polluting feathers or fur, which is inconvenient to operate. At this time, a little talcum powder can dilute the oil and blood, so that the oil and blood will not seep out and pollute the fur. When stripping the cloaca, cut the rectum with a knife, and then slowly peel off the back fur.

When peeling the head, you need to open the muscles of the neck, then hold the neck that has left the skin with one hand, and pull the neck outward with the other hand to make the head valgus. Never break the skin at this time. Then, cut off the ear and separate the ear canal from the skull. When you peel your eyes, gently open them around your eyes. Don't cut your eyelids, dig out your eyeballs, and then peel them all the way to your mouth. The mouth must not be cut off, only the head bone is cut, leaving the pecking bone. Finally, cut off the meat from your mouth and check it again to see if the meat and oil on the skin are clean. It is required that the peeled skin should not be broken.

After peeling, clean the whole skin. Wash the skin with detergent first, in order to get rid of the grease on it. It can also be washed with degreasing agent. After washing, the feathers on the front should also be washed. Finally, rinse with clear water and squeeze out the water. You can wipe it with a clean towel first to dry the moisture on the epidermis. In order to make it dry faster, it is best to spread the parrot on the table and find a hair dryer to dry it. From head to wings, tail, etc. After drying, you can apply preservatives.

In order to facilitate the operation, some preservatives can be directly put into the viscera of parrots with tweezers, and then evenly applied to the wings and limbs, and each place is smeared in place, which can prolong the shelf life of specimens. Finally, shake off the preservative residue on the surface.

Let's start building a framework. The purpose of scaffolding is to make the parrot stand up. Can also be filled at the same time. First cut the wire as long as the parrot's body, from the tail to the mouth, but don't penetrate. You can fill it out first at this time. Pick up a little cotton with tweezers and fill the head first. Hold your head up and look full. Fill the lower neck and abdomen. You have to fill it in bit by bit with small pieces of cotton.

Then spread out the whole skin, compare the distance between wings and legs, cut out a piece of wire, and then cut out a piece of wire with the same length. First, put a wire from the parrot's thigh to the toe, and then use this wire to penetrate into the diagonal wings, and the two wires cross equally. In this way, the parrot's bracket is set up. Next, continue to fill. Fill the abdomen and thighs. Finally, push the middle three lines down and fix them with another line, that is, tie the frame. Fasten the wire. Spread the whole skin, and continue to fill it in order to make the chest fuller. Only in this way can we fully reflect the shape of the parrot.

The bottom can be sewn up. From the coccyx to the abdomen, it's all stitched up. We use kite string here, because kite string is familiar and it is not easy to break. The stitches are required to be dense, so that it is not easy to expose the cotton inside.

After sewing, it is best to blow it with a hair dryer to make the feathers fluffy and look natural.

Check that the wings, neck and other parts should be bent into corresponding shapes. If you feel that your head is not full enough, you can stuff some cotton into your head from the parrot's mouth until it becomes a round head. Now there are only eyes left. Generally, pet specimens use artificial eyes as pet eyes. First, apply some glue to the parrot's eyes, cut off the steel needles on the artificial eyes, and then directly stick them in the corresponding positions and press them tightly. After the two eyes are glued, they should be reshaped to make them naturally embedded in the eyes. When finished, find a tree carving and fix the parrot's claws with wire, and it's basically finished. A few more flowers on the trunk of the lamp will make a beautiful parrot specimen.
