Shrub planting and cultivation techniques

1. Because small shrubs are woody plants, they have incomparable management advantages over lawn grass, grass flowers and other herbs.

(1) is resistant to diseases and insect pests and drought, with few management tasks. Because it is a woody plant with deep roots, it is more drought-tolerant than herbs. After planting, water and spray water in the early stage to ensure survival, and extensive management can be basically carried out in the later stage, and weeds are difficult to grow after the seedlings are shaded. After entering the normal management, even in the vigorous growth season, the pruning times in a month are only 1 2 times, which is relatively less than the cold-season grass mixed with tall fescue, Kentucky bluegrass and ryegrass.

(2) Compared with annual or biennial grass flowers or perennial herbaceous ground cover plants, it has a once-and-for-all effect. In order to ensure the effect, some annual or biennial flowers should be replaced 2 ~ 3 times a year; However, the best viewing period of some lawn grasses is usually only 2 to 3 years, except that the management fee is time-consuming and water-consuming. If the lawn is still not replaced, there will be problems such as root hardening and lawn aging, which will affect the ornamental effect. Small shrubs planted by close planting method have limited branches and leaves exposed on the outer surface, rich nutrients and far-reaching roots, and the effect is the best, obvious and lasting.

(3) When small shrubs are densely planted in gardens, the seedling potential caused by uneven soil water and fertilizer has little effect on the overall effect because it mainly depends on pruning and modeling.

2. Compared with lawns and grass flowers, dense planting of small shrubs also has some disadvantages.

(1) has lawn ornamental effect, but it can't really replace lawn. For example, it can only be applied to open spaces with limited area and high management level.

(2) The color of small shrubs is less than the natural shape and color of grass flowers.

(3) One-time planting investment is slightly higher than lawn.

(4) The effect mainly depends on pruning, and the growth cannot be completely allowed.
