How to prune woody plants?
When transplanting, prune the branches vigorously, leaving only 3 ~ 4 main vines, and induce directional climbing. Pruning during dormancy should be carried out before germination in spring, and branches of diseases and pests, dead branches, cross branches, dense branches, sprouting branches and long branches should be cut off. Except for the shortage of main side vines, the rest should be thinned from the base to avoid consuming nutrients and disturbing the shelf surface. After the summer flowers wither, the residual flowers and over-dense new shoots should be cut off to make them ventilated and light-permeable, so as to facilitate the differentiation of flower buds. When the main vine is too old, it should be trimmed and updated properly to promote the development of new vines.
