Material preparation: scissors, new pot soil, watering pot and compound fertilizer.
First, pruning and shaping.
After a dormant summer, the leaves of the crab claw orchid will become soft and flat, turn red in color and look lifeless. After it begins to show signs of growth, it might as well be trimmed and reshaped to save energy and help it enter the growth stage quickly.
First of all, pinch off the leaves with severe withering at the top, leaving only some strong leaves that are not very withered, so as to make the whole look less messy, and at the same time reduce the consumption of nutrients, so that nutrients can flow back to the roots as much as possible to help them recover quickly.
Second, replace the basin soil.
Crab claw orchids have high requirements for basin soil. If the pot soil has been changed in spring and the soil quality is good, this step can also be omitted. If not, it is not recommended to omit. Although the pot life will be increased by one week after changing the pot soil, it is a step to sharpen the knife and not miss the woodcutter.
Crab claw orchid is not very developed in root system, with few main roots and drought and waterlogging tolerance. Try not to replace the big flowerpot, and the maintenance of the small flowerpot is more worry-free. Its basin soil requires high quality. To choose loose and breathable nutrient soil, some river sand and perlite can be mixed to further increase water permeability.
Third, promote the growth of new leaves.
It takes about 7- 10 days for the crab claw orchid to serve after changing pots, and then it will enter the rapid growth stage. At this time, our maintenance is mainly to promote it to grow new leaves.
1, gradually increase the light:
Crab claw orchid should be completely shaded in summer. When the ambient temperature is lower than 28 degrees, it is necessary to gradually increase the light. At present, the highest temperature here is 28 degrees. I have put it in a bright place, which is enough for it to carry out full photosynthesis and accumulate nutrition.
Never move to Nanyang Terrace or outdoor direct sunlight at once. First move from a cool environment to a bright place, then accept astigmatism, and finally accept full illumination.
2, reasonable watering:
Crab claw orchid is growing again, and there is a certain demand for water, so it should be watered reasonably. The soil in the crab claw orchid basin is completely dry, and the top leaf is still full of green. Water it tomorrow, and don't wait until the top leaf wilts. Although it is safe for roots, it is not good for the growth of leaves.
Slowly water the crab claw orchid with small water to ensure that the soil is thoroughly poured. When the water in the basin soil completely penetrates into the chassis, remember to dump the water in the pan to avoid the basin soil from drying for a long time due to back suction. After watering, you must pay attention to ventilation.
3, thin and fat:
Fertilization is the key step to promote the long leaves of Crab claw orchid. The new leaves grow fast, which also shows that the roots grow well. At this stage, compound fertilizer should be applied to crab claw orchid to promote the growth of roots and leaves.
