Although the visual acuity of both eyes is the same, the left eye has a slight double image. Is it a bit astigmatism?

This is a Q&A reprinted from the Kemei Ophthalmology Forum. It also talks about the problem of ghosting. It should be helpful to you.

Why do double images occur after laser myopia correction surgery, and what should I do?

Dr. Zhu, I (KY50457, Li The examination on the 8th day (15th) showed that the left eye was 1.0 and the right eye was 1.0, which was normal. There was no ghosting at that time. But a few days later I noticed a double image in my left eye. During the re-examination on March 29, my left eye could only see 0.4 vision due to double vision. Director He asked me to increase the number of times I use Aili. It’s now April 4th, almost a month after the surgery, and the ghosting has been happening for 3 weeks. It still hasn’t improved. What should I do? What is the cause of ghosting in my case? Can it be returned to normal?

Dr. Zhu published on 2008-4-5 13:41: Hello! One month after the operation (that is, recently), he came over and asked me to take a look. The recovery of ek itself is relatively slow. It is normal for vision fluctuations during the recovery period. Don’t worry too much yet.

LIFEI9898 published on 2008-4-7 15:58: I (KY50457, Li X) do not need Dr. Zhu’s reply this time.

The following are some of my thoughts.

I found that friends who have viewed this post 147 times will be deterred by ghosting. Here I express my opinion.

Lasek is not mainstream, and most people are suitable for lasik. I had pain on the 1st and 2nd day of EK (my left eye was tearing and I couldn’t open my eye, as if something was irritating the eyeball, which was very uncomfortable. But my right eye was normal); the EK eye The cost of the medicine is more; the EK recovery time is longer, I can't see the computer for 7 days, and Dr. Zhu also said in other posts that it will take 3 months to stabilize. IK is the mainstream, and EK is supplementary, for people with thin corneas.

LIFEI9898 published on 2008-5-11 20:57: It is exactly 2 months since the surgery date of 3.7. Now the ghosting situation has improved a lot, and the subtitles (15-inch LCD monitor) are also clear. (It turned out to be unbearable). The ghosting has moved from the left side to the bottom (it will also shift places!), and it is very light. I believe it will disappear completely after another month. I'll go for a reexamination next week and the visual acuity of my left eye should be 1.2.
