Dilated cardiomyopathy is a kind of heart disease with unknown causes, which may be related to many factors such as virus infection, immune response and neuroendocrine response. Dilated cardiomyopathy usually manifests as enlargement and thinning of ventricular wall, and may be accompanied by mural thrombus. Clinically, it is often manifested as various types of arrhythmia and congestive heart failure, with poor prognosis. At present, there is no exact and effective treatment for this disease in western medicine. Although western medicine treatment has made some progress, the long-term prognosis of heart failure is still not optimistic, and it will develop into progressive refractory heart failure sooner or later.
Traditional Chinese medicine does not have the name cardiomyopathy. In epidemic febrile diseases, "pathogenic factors of epidemic febrile diseases attack the lung first and spread to the pericardium reversely", and in Su Wen Bi Lun, "pulse is often blocked, pathogenic factors are restored, and the heart is restrained". This disease can be classified as "fever, chest obstruction and palpitation" in traditional Chinese medicine.
