What should you not eat if you have nasopharyngeal cancer?

5 Do not eat foods high in iodine

Iodine can promote the dissolution of soft tissues and has the effect of reducing phlegm. It is good for benign tumors and vascular sclerosis. However, nasopharyngeal cancer has obvious bleeding symptoms, and foods containing high iodine may aggravate this symptom, so it is obviously prohibited.

Foods containing high iodine include iodized salt, crabs, shrimps, scaleless fish, kelp, etc.

6 Do not eat rough food

Patients with nasopharyngeal cancer will experience throat discomfort and foreign body sensation, which affects swallowing. Eating rough food may make it difficult for the patient to swallow or may cut the throat during swallowing, causing bleeding.

Rough food: whole grains, celery stalks, walnuts, cabbage sticks, etc.

7 Do not smoke or drink

The ethanol in alcohol and the nicotine in cigarettes are important factors in inducing cancer. Taking tobacco and alcohol at the same time is more likely to cause cancer. Because the harmful carcinogens in tobacco can dissolve in alcohol and adhere to the surface of the gastrointestinal mucosal epithelium, they will cause greater harm to the mucosal epithelium and lead to the aggravation of nasopharyngeal cancer.
