Cutting method and time of geranium
Geranium geranium is usually pruned in spring and autumn. Selecting branches with good top growth and 2-3 bud points, cutting off 10 cm, soaking branches with carbendazim for disinfection, and then soaking the base of cuttings with 0.0 1% indoleacetic acid, which is helpful for cuttings to take root quickly. Then, dry the cuttings in the shade and insert them into loose and breathable soil to maintain a semi-atmospheric state.

Geranium has a wide adaptability to the environment, so many people are willing to keep several beautiful geraniums at home. Its propagation method includes cutting, sowing and tissue culture. Among them, cutting is a common method, so we should pay attention to the selection of cutting time, branches and pot soil.

Cutting time

Geranium is usually cut in spring and autumn, which is the season when geranium grows faster, and the survival rate of cutting is higher at this time. Don't cut it in summer Summer is the dormant period of geranium. At this time, the cuttings are difficult to survive and easy to rot.

Cutting step

Step 1: Selection of potted soil: Geranium is suitable for growing in loose, fertile, breathable and slightly acidic soil. Soil can be prepared by mixing perlite and peat in half, or mixing river sand, humus and vermiculite in a ratio of 3: 3: 4.

Step 2, cutting treatment: selecting branches with 2-3 buds at the top of geranium and cutting 10 cm. Soaking branches with carbendazim for disinfection, then soaking the base of cuttings with 0.0 1% indoleacetic acid is helpful for cuttings to take root quickly, and then drying the cuttings in the shade.

Step 3: Cutting: Insert branches into the prepared soil. Dig a hole with the right size first, then gently put the cuttings in it, slightly compact the surrounding soil, make the branches stand upright, and then pour a proper amount of water to keep the soil moist.

Precautions for maintenance after cutting

Pelargonium graveolens can take root in about 15-20 days after cutting in a semi-shady and well-ventilated place, and the temperature can be controlled between 13- 18 degrees. After taking root, it can blossom in six months.

1, water once

After the branches of geranium are planted, they can be watered once. When watering, you must be careful and slow down, so that the water can slowly flow into the basin soil. This is to prevent soil splash from causing fungi, and also to prevent the geranium plants that have just been cut from tilting.

Step 2 protect the environment

Put it in a warm and ventilated place. In order to ensure faster rooting, the curing temperature must be kept between 18~25 degrees. We can put it in the east position, and there will be proper scattered light every morning.

3. Water during rooting

Be sure to pay attention to watering regularly, slowly and carefully during rooting and germination. When cutting, keep the pot soil slightly wet, but not too wet. When the soil surface is three centimeters dry, it should be watered once in time.
