1942 graduated from national Shanghai medical college, 1947 studied in medical college of Texas state university for one year. He has served as a surgeon and attending physician in Shanghai Red Cross First Hospital (now Huashan Hospital) and Zhongshan Hospital; Deputy director and associate researcher of experimental surgery, Academy of Military Medical Sciences; Director and chief physician of trauma surgery and burn department of PLA General Hospital; Professor of Surgery, PLA Military Medical College; Vice President of the 304th Hospital of the People's Liberation Army, Director of the Trauma Center and Director of the Burn Research Institute. 1996 was elected as an academician of China Academy of Engineering. Participated in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, the self-defense counterattack on the border between China and India, the Xingtai and Tangshan earthquakes and the rescue work in chengdu-kunming railway. He used to be a director of the Chinese Medical Association, chairman and honorary consultant of the Burn Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, member of the Standing Committee of the Trauma Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, member of the Standing Committee of the Medical Science and Technology Committee of the People's Liberation Army, and deputy director of the editorial board of the Chinese Plastic Burn Journal. He is currently the chairman of the editorial board of PLA Medical Journal, the deputy editor of China Journal of Critical Care Medicine, a member of the editorial board of Burn, an organ newspaper of the International Burn Society, a senior member of the International Burn Society, and an honorary member of the American and Canadian Trauma Society.
