1. How to adjust the gap between the brake pad and the brake pad:
The tools used are as follows: two large and strong flat-blade screwdrivers, a hammer, and a 3.5mm Internal hexagon, a 5mm internal hexagon, an original Avid E1 ream clip, a pair of small needle-nose pliers, a 75 cm height hard seat stool, and a tool to remove the card fly.
The steps are as follows:
1. Use a 5mm internal hexagon to remove the caliper from the car. From now on, never squeeze the brake handle again, otherwise oil leakage will cause big trouble.
2. Use needle-nosed pliers to flatten the tail of the locating pin of the lining piece and pull it out, then remove the old lining piece.
3. Use a 3.5mm hexagon socket to loosen the hexagon socket screw on the handle to adjust the contact point a few turns. This step is very important, otherwise even if you use a lot of force to push the piston back, you will not be able to push it back completely. Even if you push it back barely, the piston will rebound a little.
4. Take two flat-blade screwdrivers and insert them between the two pistons. If one is inserted on the left side of the piston, the other one is inserted on the right side of the piston. Anyway, it is at the center of the piston. at the diagonal position, and then rotate a screwdriver clockwise and a screwdriver counterclockwise (not along the direction of the disk, which can be regarded as the diameter of the disk as the axis of rotation). Due to the blade of the slotted screwdriver, The width is larger than the diameter of the cutter bar, so that the rotation can easily spread the piston evenly to both sides. There are two reasons why two screwdrivers are used: first, the middle of the piston is recessed, and the screwdriver will be empty; second, if there is only one screwdriver, the other hand will have to resist the rotational torque, which wastes half of the effort. It's not easy to load on the car.
5. After repeated pushing a few times, the two pistons will roughly be pushed back, but they will basically not be pushed to a position flush with the caliper body. At this time, pull out the flat-blade screwdriver and install the almost worn-out latch plate without installing the spring plate. Then loosen the 3.5 hexagonal socket screw on the handle a few turns, and force the tool to remove the flying disc from the normal disc. The direction of the caliper body is inserted between the two latch pieces, and then the opening on the top of the caliper is used to push against the inside of the latch piece from the left to the right (the removal tool is flat and can leave this space), just like before Rotate forward and backward to push the piston back a little.
6. Now it seems that the piston is almost flat, but in fact it is still not enough. Also loosen the screw on the handle two or three turns.
7. Remove the lining plate used for 5, and install the lining plate that still has some friction plates. This time, insert the metal plate with a thickness of about 2 mm just mentioned. Then just like step 5, continue to pry a few times with two screwdrivers.
8. Now that the piston is very close to being flat, you can install the new latch and install the limit pin. But when you put the caliper back on the car and look closely, you will find that the gap is relatively small and it is easy to rub the disc. At this point, you can loosen the hexagonal socket screw on the handle a few more times, and then try to insert the pad clip provided with the Avid E1 between the pads. Since the original gap is very small, it will be difficult to insert it. , I turned the caliper body over and placed it on the stool, so that the protrusion for installing the limit pin was against the chair surface, then used a hammer to hit the end of the clip to release the clip, and then knocked the clip into the space between the two clips. of.
9. At this time, squeeze the brake handle. Of course, it will be tight. It’s okay. Just squeeze it a few more times. As the number of squeezes increases, you will feel that the distance between the brake levers is gradually increasing. As time goes by, the clips gradually loosen, and eventually the clips can be taken out and put back easily.
10. Now, put the caliper back on the car. The installation and positioning of oil disc calipers is much simpler than that of cable discs: loosen the fixing screws, move the caliper body left and right a few times with your hands, then swing it left and right twice, then swing it back and forth twice, press it gently, and slowly pinch the handle. Then, without letting go, use your other hand to alternately gradually lock the caliper fixing screw.
2. Air exhaust method:
Tool preparation:
Nozzle wrench, T10, T15, T25 wrench, DOT 4 brake fluid (select according to the oil disc) , 4mm, 5mm hexagonal wrench
1. Use a wrench to loosen the fixing screws of the oil disc brake lever and handlebar, then adjust the brake lever angle to vertical to the ground, so that the brake lever oil nozzle is as close to the ground as possible Vertical, so that the oil path from the brake lever to the caliper is as straight as possible perpendicular to the ground, so that the air can generate greater buoyancy and move upward.
2. Pay attention here. Put spacers between the clamping pieces so that the gaps between the clamping pieces are completely filled. Note: The spacers cannot be too thin and must be The tabs on both sides are tightly held together.
3. Use a syringe equipped with a grease nozzle to suck up the brake fluid, not more than one-fifth of the syringe, discharge the air in the syringe, and pump the other syringe to three-quarters. of oil.
4. Use a wrench to loosen the caliper oil nipple.
5. Install the syringe that absorbs three-quarters of the oil onto the caliper oil nozzle
6. Remove the brake lever oil nozzle fixing screw.
7. Install another syringe nozzle that absorbs no more than one-fifth of the oil to the brake handle nozzle.
8. First push the oil on the brake lever from the caliper part. You can see that the brake fluid will come out from the syringe on the brake lever.
9. Then pump the clip syringe back and forth to slowly extract the air from the tubing until no bubbles can be seen being extracted.
10. Remove the caliper oil nozzle syringe and tighten the caliper oil nozzle screw to close.
11. Then remove the syringe from the brake lever and pinch the brake lever back and forth. You will find that the oil level on the oil nozzle on the brake lever will go down a little. At this time, add some brake fluid and then Tighten the brake lever oil nozzle screw.
12. Finally, spray the cleaning agent to clean the excess brake fluid on the brake lever, and you are done.
