Why is there something hard on the soles of your feet?
Symptoms should be common corns, which are caused by long-term accumulation of friction on local skin.

Keratokeratosis is a localized keratoconus caused by long-term local pressure and friction on the skin of the foot. Commonly known as "meat thorn". People who stand and walk for a long time are more prone to it, and friction and oppression are the main incentives.

People who stand and walk for a long time are more prone to it, and friction and oppression are the main incentives. Too tight shoes or deformed foot bones will thicken the corner layer of the foot that is rubbed or oppressed, push it inward, and become a cone-shaped horny thing with an inward tip.

The lesions are round or oval localized keratinocyte proliferation, with needle to broad bean size, light yellow or dark yellow, smooth surface, flat or slightly raised skin surface, clear boundary, and inverted conical keratin plugs embedded in the central dermis. Because the tip of keratin plug stimulates nerve endings in dermal papilla, it will cause pain when standing or walking. Cornea is common in the third metatarsal bone in the front and middle of the foot, the lateral edge of the toe tibia, and the protruding and easy-to-rub parts, such as the back of the little toe and the second toe or toe.

differential diagnosis

It is not difficult to diagnose the disease according to the characteristics and prone parts of the injury. Should be identified as follows.

1. plantar wart

Not limited to the plantar compression part, the surface is papillary keratin hyperplasia. When dermatoglyphics are interrupted, there are often black bleeding spots, and the squeezing pain is obvious.

Step 2: Callus

In the compression of the sole part, it is found that no keratotic spots or bands are formed, the surface is smooth, the edge is unclear, and it will not cause pain when walking or rubbing.

3. Palmoplantar punctate keratosis

There are many isolated conical cuticles in the palm and sole, which do not wedge into the skin and are not limited to the friction parts.

treat cordially

1. External corrosive agent

Corn paste can be used for external use, as well as 10% salicylic acid glacial acetic acid, 30% salicylic acid collodion and crystal paste. External corrosive agents must protect the surrounding skin. Cut a small hole in the center of the zinc oxide tape, the size of which is the same as that of the skin lesion, and stick it on the skin lesion to expose it. Then, the thin strips of adhesive tape are twisted into a rope shape to enclose the hole into a dike shape, and then a large piece of adhesive tape is covered with medicine, and the dressing is changed for 3 to 7 days 1 time until it falls off.

2. Physical therapy

Electrocautery, carbon dioxide laser cautery, contact X-ray irradiation.

3. Surgical resection.

In order to prevent corns, friction and squeezing should be reduced. Shoes and boots should be soft and fit. Thick and soft insoles or sponge pads can be lined inside the shoes, and holes (perforated insoles) can be cut at the place equivalent to corns. The deformity of the toes should be corrected, and if there is exostosis of the foot, it should be treated surgically.
