I am a girl but I have Adam’s apple. How can I get rid of it?

Both men and women actually have Adam's apple. In human anatomy, the human Adam's apple is composed of 11 pieces of cartilage as a scaffold, the most important and largest piece of which is called thyroid cartilage. The throat bones begin to develop when the fetus is 2 months old and continue to grow until 5 to 6 years after birth. After that, the growth of laryngeal cartilage basically stops until puberty begins. So in prepubertal boys and girls, their thyroid cartilage is the same size.

The reason why men’s and women’s Adam’s apples are different in the later stages of development is due to androgen and estrogen. Male hormones stimulate thyroid cartilage growth, while estrogen causes thyroid cartilage to grow more slowly. After men enter puberty, the secretion of male hormones gradually increases, which accelerates the growth of thyroid cartilage and gradually protrudes forward. In women, because the level of estrogen secreted by the ovaries increases, the growth rate of thyroid cartilage is relatively slow, so women's Adam's apple generally does not protrude.

On the one hand, women who appear to have Adam's apple may be due to endocrine imbalance. Excessive secretion of male hormones and insufficient estrogen content may lead to masculine characteristics such as protruding Adam's apple and thickening of the voice, which may occur in parts such as female ovaries. Tumors may cause insufficient secretion of estrogen.

Another reason is that the body is too thin and there is less fat and muscle in the neck, which makes the Adam's apple protrude. This situation mainly occurs in slim women around 20 years old. In addition, simple genetic factors can also cause protrusion of Adam's apple in women. For example, if the Adam's apple of parents' generation is relatively swollen, it may lead to protrusion of Adam's apple in women, so genetic factors are also a reason.

1. If the protruding Adam's apple is related to thin neck muscles, as long as you pay more attention to nutrition, strengthen exercise, and do not blindly diet to lose weight, you will not feel the protruding Adam's apple after the muscles become plump.

2. Some girls also have Adam’s apple, which is related to puberty development. Because the Adam's apple has no practical effect (it has nothing to do with pronunciation and tone), it has no physiological impact at all. As long as other masculine characteristics do not continue to develop, such as growing a beard or something, you don't need to worry about it.

3. If it is caused by endocrine disorders, then we must find ways to regulate the endocrine disorders. The following are methods to help female friends regulate endocrine, you may wish to take a look:

(1) Develop a good lifestyle and form regular living habits.

(2). Avoid overwork and excitement, and maintain a happy spirit to prevent negative emotions from affecting the endocrine system.

(3). Ensure adequate nutrition and sleep, and eat more high-protein and vitamin foods such as cereals, fresh fruits and vegetables.

(4). Exercise can promote better secretion of female hormones. Women who exercise regularly tend to have more balanced hormonal secretion levels in their bodies than women who sit still for a long time. Specific manifestations include more regular menstruation, shinier skin and hair, and smoother and more delicate skin.
