Materials:
High carbon steel bar (blade)
Wood (handle)
Rivets or bolts (used to connect the blade and handle)
Grinding machine with file and sandpaper (for dressing and grinding blades)
Hand file, hammer and file (for making handles)
Pliers and welding machine (for fixing handle and blade)
Steps:
Choose the right steel: choose high carbon steel as the material of the blade. Make sure that the steel is strong enough to make blades.
Draw blade design: draw the required blade design on steel with pencil and paper. Ensure that the design meets the actual and functional requirements.
Cutting and forming: cut the steel into the shape of a blade according to the design with a grinder. Then the blade is shaped and trimmed with grinder and hand tools to make its edge smooth and sharp.
Making the hilt: Choose a suitable piece of wood as the material of the hilt. Use a file and a hammer to trim the wood into an appropriate shape and size to adapt to the connection of leaves.
Connecting the blade and handle: Pre-drill holes in the blade and handle, and then connect them together with rivets or bolts. Make sure the connection is firm.
Polishing adjustment: use sandpaper, file, grinder and other tools to polish and adjust the blade and handle to ensure the appearance and comfort of the knife.
Finish the details: according to personal preference, the handle can be painted, carved or decorated to increase the aesthetics.
