Why are the new leaves of Cycas yellow?
1, caused by low temperature frostbite

The yellowing peak of Cycas leaves is basically concentrated around the Spring Festival every year. That's because cycads are not cold-tolerant. Once the temperature of Cycas planted or potted outdoors is lower than 0℃, freezing injury is easy to occur if no cold-proof and warm-keeping measures are taken. Yellow leaves of Cycas caused by low temperature frostbite are the most common.

Solution: When the temperature is lower than 0℃ in winter, the Cycas should be moved indoors for wintering. If the Cycas can't move because it is planted in the ground or the pot is too big, the branches of Cycas can be tied vertically and covered with insulation film to prevent freezing injury.

2. Insufficient light and poor ventilation.

Cycas is a light-loving plant, which is generally maintained in outdoor environment. However, some cycads are too big, which will affect the passage of people and cars in a well-lit position. Will be artificially moved to the corner or under the shade for maintenance. However, the lack of light and poor ventilation in these places can easily cause the leaves of Cycas to turn yellow. In a word, yellow leaves are inevitable if the cycad is in a poor light and poor ventilation environment.

Solution: Cycas must be planted or potted in a well-lit and well-ventilated place. If the plant type of Cycas is too large to affect the lighting, it can also be trimmed appropriately.

3, caused by water shortage and drought.

Cycas has strong adaptability and good drought tolerance. Under normal circumstances, as long as it is not a long-term water shortage and drought, it has little effect on the growth of Cycas. But in summer, if there is long-term water shortage, no one manages it or neglects it, it will cause water shortage and yellow leaves of Cycas. In addition, too much watering will lead to water accumulation of Cycas, which will also cause the leaves of Cycas to turn yellow.

Solution: Cycas should be watered 1 time every day during high temperature in summer. Except in summer, cycads have a great demand for water. Water for 3-5 days in spring and autumn 1 time. Because of the low temperature in winter, the demand for water is not high. Generally 1 week or so 1 time is enough.
