How to prune Chinese rose
Chinese rose flowers bloom all year round and are easy to cultivate. In order to make Chinese rose blossom more and bigger, plant type ideal and grow healthily, it is necessary to do a good job of pruning during growth and dormancy.

1, pruning time of Chinese rose

The cultivation of flowers is "three kinds, seven kinds." Generally, Chinese roses can only be pruned when they are dormant in winter, and the pruning time of Chinese roses is in winter. In fact, the pruning of Chinese rose flowers includes winter pruning and growing pruning. The total pruning amount in the growth period is light, and the pruning amount in the dormancy period is large.

2. Pruning method in growth period

After the flowers bloom, leave about 10-20 cm at the base of the flower branches, and cut off the rest. Rich branches can leave strong axillary buds. This can avoid nutrient consumption and enhance plant growth. If you just cut off the residual flowers after flowering and keep the original branches, a large number of lateral buds will appear in the upper layer, and then many weak branches will grow. Although there are many flowers, the pattern is small and the ornamental value is not great. Plant "top-heavy" is a phenomenon, which is not conducive to the beauty of plant types. Therefore, timely and reasonable pruning can make plants compact, flowers concentrated and flowers big and bright.

In the process of plant growth, the buds should be thinned to remove the endogenous buds, so that the branches can be distributed reasonably without affecting ventilation and light transmission. When the plants bud, only one bud is left at the branch end of the big-flowered rose, and the rest should be removed to concentrate nutrition. Roses with many flowers can shed leaves properly to make them bloom evenly.

3, dormant pruning

The loss of nutrients during dormancy pruning is very small, so you can prune large branches according to the modeling requirements, and cut off pests, dead branches, cross branches, overlapping branches, drooping branches, over-dense branches, thin branches, sprouting branches at the base, sprouting branches below the plastic belt on the trunk, etc. Then, according to the characteristics of the variety and the needs of modeling, pruning is carried out in different degrees, such as strong, medium and weak. Regeneration and rejuvenation pruning of natural laissez-faire trees and old and weak trees, including strong pruning, medium pruning and weak pruning.

Strong cutting means that for plants with weak growth potential and potted rose varieties with large flowers, strong cutting is generally carried out, that is, two-thirds of the whole plant is cut off, leaving only 2-4 main branches. Pruning is often used for varieties with moderate growth, even branches and easy branching, and about half of the whole tree is cut off. Weak pruning is a third pruning of some plants with great growth potential.
