How to Photoshop a smiley face on a photo

Create a new 800 * 600 pixel file, select the gradient tool, set the color as shown in Figure 1, and pull out the radial gradient as shown in Figure 2.

Create a new layer, pull two intersecting reference lines in the center of the layer, select the Elliptical Marquee Tool and center on the intersection of the reference lines to draw a perfect circle selection as shown in Figure 3. Then select the gradient tool, set the color as shown in Figure 4, and pull out the linear gradient shown in Figure 5.

Create a new layer, and then draw a slightly smaller circle selection centered on the intersection, as shown in Figure 6. Select the gradient tool, set the color as shown in Figure 7, and pull out the radial gradient as shown in Figure 8.

Create a new layer, use the Elliptical Marquee Tool to pull out the elliptical selection shown in Figure 9 on the upper part of the perfect circle, and fill it with white. After canceling the selection, add a layer mask and use a black and white linear gradient to bring out the bottom transparency effect, as shown in Figure 10.

Create a new layer, use the pen tool to draw a selection of the eyebrows, select the gradient tool to draw a linear gradient from black to dark gray, cancel the selection, double-click the layer to bring up the layer style, and select stroke. The parameter settings are shown in Figure 11, and the effect is shown in Figure 12.

Create a new layer, use the Elliptical Marquee Tool to select the large eye socket, and add the gradient color, as shown below.

Create a new layer, use the Elliptical Marquee Tool to make a slightly smaller eye socket selection, fill it with light gray, and then use the Dodge Tool to paint the middle part a little white. The effect is as shown below.

Use the same method to make the eyes and highlights. The effect is as shown below.

The right eye can be copied directly from the one on the left.

The method of making the mouth part is the same as before. First use the pen tool to outline the selection, and then fill it with the gradient color. The effect is as shown in Figure 17-19.

Finally, adjust the details as a whole to complete the final effect.
