How to prune miniature rose flowers after they wither?

Pruning method of miniature rose:

Firstly, during the flowering period of miniature rose, when the flowers fade, 8-12 cm of branches under the flowers should be cut off. It needs to be pruned again before germination in spring. Generally, 3-4 main branches should be retained, and 3-5 cm should be left at the base of each branch.

Secondly, pay attention to promptly pruning off the remaining miniature rose flowers. This is a necessary task, which can concentrate nutrients and promote more flowers and a longer flowering period. Otherwise, some axillary buds immediately under the residual flowers will easily germinate, resulting in weak branches, which not only consumes the nutrients of the plant, but also destroys the plant shape, and the flowers that bloom are mostly deformed or poor florets.

After the first batch of flowers bloom, medium branches need to be cut in the middle, leaving 3-4 buds; weak branches need to be cut heavily, leaving 1-2 buds; strong branches should be lightly pruned, leaving 5 buds. left and right, appropriately inhibiting growth. The second pruning needs to be strictly controlled. It only needs to be cut above the second leaf under the residual flower, and the axillary bud of the second leaf should be retained.

After the beginning of autumn, pruning should be done in the middle after flowering, leaving 3-4 buds on each branch. In order to maintain the balance of the plant shape, you can also cut back to the last batch of flowering branches. At the same time, prune diseased branches, overly dense branches, leggy branches, overlapping branches, etc. Pruning in winter is mainly about shaping, and cutting off dead branches, diseased branches, cross branches and other poorly growing branches. If it is a plant that is strong and well-proportioned, generally cut off one-third of the entire plant. If the plant is weak, cut off about two-thirds of the entire plant, leaving 3-4 strong main branches.
