Mata Lake is located in the north of Huantai County, with a length of12km from east to west, 8km from north to south and 96km from Fiona Fang. 1995 is listed as a provincial scenic spot by Shandong provincial government. With beautiful scenery, pleasant climate and many places of interest, the Lake District is a natural tourist attraction, and is known as "the north of the south of the Yangtze River". Clear water in the lake, criss-crossing rivers, interwoven into a net, reeds and lotus ponds endless. In the middle reaches of Zhouhu Lake, willows are towering, reeds are sandwiched by roads, and winding paths lead to secluded places. 300,000 Chinese and foreign tourists come here every year. The foreign guests come from more than ten countries and regions such as the United States, Canada, Singapore, Australia, Germany and Japan.
Mata Lake is rich in products, including dozens of kinds of perch, silver carp, crucian carp, eel and crab, and more than 70 kinds of wild birds. The reed in the lake is fine in texture, golden and shiny, thin and soft. It is used to weave palace lanterns, four-screen fans and other handicrafts and is exported to many countries and regions.
The famous food in the lake is of high quality and good taste, and has a long-standing reputation. Golden duck eggs, fish dragons and fragrant rice, and white lotus roots were all tributes of the courts of past dynasties. 1972 During President Nixon's visit to China, he ate the white lotus root in the lake. Fried lotus, lotus seed soup, loach balls and Bai Pu eel soup are all very good dishes. Golden duck eggs have become excellent tourism products in the province.
