Can kiwifruit be grafted?

Kiwifruit can be grafted, usually in spring, preferably in February-March, to ensure that the juice of Kiwifruit will not flow out before the bleeding period, so as to improve the survival rate, or in early April, the climate is also very suitable and the survival rate is high.

Kiwifruit grafting rootstock

Grafting of kiwifruit is generally to select a branch from the robust kiwifruit as the rootstock.

Kiwifruit grafting method steps

1. Treating rootstock: cut it 4-5cm away from the blade tip, and then cut a joint with a depth of 3cm in the center of the cross section.

2. Scion cutting: cut 4-5cm long branches with leaf buds from another plant as scions, and cut the bottom into trapezoidal insertion joints.

3. Grafting: insert the scion into the joint to ensure that they are closely attached, then tie them together with a rope with a width of about 1cm and fix them.

Management of kiwifruit after grafting

After kiwifruit grafting is completed, attention should be paid to shading from the sun and rain to avoid external stimulation affecting the survival of the scion. After grafting is completed 15-20 days, the survival status of the scion can be checked. After ensuring survival, you can untie the rope; If it can't survive, it will be repaired.
