Guilin Medical College is an ordinary institution of higher learning directly under Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Its predecessor was Guilin Senior Midwifery Nurse School, established in 1935. 1958 was upgraded to Guilin Medical College, and 1987 was renamed Guilin Medical College with the approval of the State Education Commission.
