Northern Jiangsu is not an administrative division concept, but a geographical concept, which is relative to "Southern Jiangsu" and has certain cultural significance. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, Jiangbei gradually declined, and a large number of people moved to Jiangnan, and Jiangbei people suffered from discrimination. The word "Jiangbei" has become a derogatory term with specific meanings such as backwardness, poverty and ignorance. In order to advocate the elimination of regional stereotypes, it was renamed Sunan and Subei successively.
