Public health emergencies of international concern (PHEIC) refer to abnormal events determined according to the provisions of the International Health Regulations (2005): (1) Public health risks to other countries [countries bound by the International Health Regulations] are constituted through the international spread of diseases; And (ii) a coordinated international response may be required (as defined in regulation 1 of the International Health Regulations (2005)).
