In the first part of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, there is such a description:
Liu Bei looked at him: nine feet long and two feet bearded; If the face is like a heavy jujube, if the lips are coated with fat; Cheng, lying silkworm eyebrow, beautiful and dignified.
Translation:
Liu Bei looked at Guan Yu around him: he was nine feet tall, his beard was two feet long, his face was as red as jujube, his lips were painted with rouge, his eyes were phoenix, and his eyebrows were asleep. He is handsome and dignified. That is, Guan Yu's phoenix eye and lying silkworm eyebrow are rare in the world. The phoenix eye is majestic, and the sleeping silkworm eyebrows are like smoke, giving people a sense of domineering.

Guan Yu in Romance of the Three Kingdoms
In the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the author (Luo Guanzhong) portrays Guan Yu as a brave warrior with a dragon crescent moon blade. He is tall and powerful, and his martial arts are superb. As soon as he appeared, he became sworn friends with Liu Bei and Zhang Fei in Taoyuan, made weapons, and went to war to suppress the Yellow Scarf Uprising. Later, although I wandered around with Liu Bei, I was still able to kill the enemy and show my great power.
When the governors of eighteen towns begged Dong Zhuoshi, they chopped Hua Xiong with warm wine and fought Lu Bu with the strength of Sanying. Liu Bei was defeated in Xuzhou, so he refused to surrender to Cao Cao on three things, lifted the siege of Cao Cao's white horse, beheaded Yan Liang and punished Wen Chou. Knowing that Liu Bei was backward, he rode Ma Qianli alone, beheaded the Cai Yang brothers, and gathered the three brothers in the ancient city. When Battle of Red Cliffs was in Huarong Road, he could not bear to kill Cao Cao and let him go.
After Liu Bei became king, Guan Yu worshipped the head of the five tiger generals, led the troops to capture Xiangyang, flooded the seven armies, beheaded Pound and escaped from the Forbidden City. In the battle of Fancheng, he was assassinated by a poisonous arrow, scraping the bones to cure poison, and then Lv Meng crossed the river in white to attack Jingzhou, and Huang Xu took the opportunity to seize Yancheng. Guan Yu was attacked between Scylla and Charybdis, defeated Maicheng, and was later killed. Shu, Wu and Wei San all held funerals for him. After his death, he appeared several times, chasing the soul of Monroe, scolding Sun Quan and scaring Cao Cao.
Besides, in Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Guan Yu is usually called "Yun Chang" or "Guan Gong" when he narrates from the narrator's point of view, and is rarely called by his first name. In the whole Romance of the Three Kingdoms, only Guan Yu, Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang have this treatment.
