From 1900- 1903, pissarro focused on this historic site. However, his health is getting worse and worse, and he suffers from serious eye diseases, so he can't sketch nearby. So he created more than 30 works about this scenic spot in the window on the third floor of his apartment, in which the sky and the river occupied a new important position to show the softness and permanence of this area.

The close-up of the picture is occupied by a corner of the duck green garden near Xinqiao. A few strokes outline a few tourists in the garden-for example, a rose represents a woman's skirt-who are watching the barge pass slowly under the bridge opening of the Art Bridge. On the left of the picture are two big trees whose leaves have fallen off, and on the right is the Louvre, dragging a long figure. The annex buildings built in the period of Louis XIV have classical architectural style: triangular lintels, pilasters, posts on railings and roof platforms all reflect this style. It echoes the old buildings such as small corridors and "waterside promenades". There are small bell towers on both sides of the narrow arcade leading to the palace, and then you can reach the Louvre, which was built in Charles Louis Napolé on Bonaparte and has a high roof. The vast sky is blue, and there are several thin pink clouds floating in the air. The sun shines on the earth through the clouds. The straight lines of Louvre, Art Bridge and Duck Green Garden make the whole picture look very stable. The old painter tried to depict the sky that filled the whole picture, the morning fog in winter and the trembling light in the city air through the tones of gray, hazel and lavender. In 1903, he said in a letter to his son Lv Xian that he had found "a theme with outstanding light" here.

Starting from 1893, in the last ten years of his life, pissarro no longer took fields, villages and farmers as his creative themes, but turned his attention to cities: Rouen and Diap in Normandy, especially the capital. He lives in the center of Paris and is attracted by the bustling street scenes, perhaps inspired by Japanese copperplate prints or photography. He overlooked the crowds and lively scenes in the street from the window of the hotel room. He later painted a series of works for the newly-built Opera Street. In his view, the whole street is colorful, brightly lit and full of vitality. Later, he was deeply attracted by the Tuileries Garden on the banks of the Seine and at the foot of the Louvre. 1900, he simply rented an apartment on the left bank of the Seine River at No.28 Pigeon Square, not far from Xinqiao. In this way, he unconsciously got closer to the Seine. There, he created a series of works about the Seine and the Louvre.
