Get to know big eyes and small eyes together
As the name implies, big eyes and small eyes can be divided into two categories: naturally occurring and surgical complications. Big eyes and small eyes caused by surgical complications are usually seen in bad eyelid surgery. Generally speaking, it belongs to the scope of double eyelid reconstruction.

Naturally occurring large and small eyes are actually unilateral ptosis, which can be divided into congenital and acquired progressive, but the surgical methods of the two are similar, but the reasons for the occurrence of large and small eyes are slightly different.

Some patients with congenital large and small eyes suffer from hemifacial syndrome at the same time, but the degree is very light. The only thing that will attract attention is the difference in eye size. Usually, if the patient bites a bamboo chopstick, the bamboo chopstick will tilt slightly to the side with smaller eyes, which proves that the face on the affected side is actually slightly smaller than that on the other side. The eyelid lifting function of the affected eye of such patients is relatively insufficient, which will cause slight obstruction to the field of vision. After the natural reflex adjustment of the central nervous system, it will form a typical feature: the eyes of normal people are too wide, and the eyes of patients are slightly smaller or almost equal to the size of normal people, and they look big and small. An experienced doctor can diagnose it at a glance.

The eyes of the day after tomorrow, large and small, half a small face is no problem. Most of them are caused by the phenomenon that the aponeurosis of levator palpebrae superioris is partially broken due to degeneration. Of course, others, such as trauma, tumor compression and certain types of stroke, may have similar situations, but the probability is very low and the differential diagnosis is not very difficult.

No matter congenital blepharoptosis or acquired blepharoptosis, the methods of surgical correction are similar, and the levator palpebrae superioris muscle and levator aponeurosis need to be carefully adjusted to achieve bilateral symmetry. Unfortunately, many patients think that cutting double eyelids can enlarge their eyes, so they can correct them. Many doctors who cut double eyelids are unfamiliar with drooping eyelids and cannot prescribe the right medicine. As a result, they cut strange double eyelids for nothing (because no matter how they cut them, they will not be symmetrical).
