How to raise gardenia seedlings What are the methods for raising gardenia seedlings?

1. Propagation by cuttings. During mass production and propagation, cuttings are propagated in open field hotbeds from June to August in the south, and indoor cuttings are propagated from October to November in the north. Select current-year or biennial branches with strong growth. The cuttings are 8 to 10 cm long and have 2 leaves. Cuttings are made in equidistant rows at a distance of 5 cm in length and width. The cutting depth is generally 2 to 3 cm. In order to promote the rooting of cuttings and improve the survival rate, soak the lower end of the cuttings in a solution of 40 to 100 mg/L of indoleacetic acid or naphthaleneacetic acid for 24 hours before cutting. If kept at 25-30℃ and humidity above 80%, roots will take root in 3-5 weeks. The surviving cuttings are first placed in a 10 cm small pot. When potting, pay attention to keeping the root system intact and stretched. Water every day, and the pot soil should not be too dry or too wet. After one year of growth, apply some thin liquid fertilizer until it grows to 20 cm tall. Combined with shaping, you can pinch the tips to make them dry, and set them into 3 or 4 branches. However, it will bloom in the second year.

2. Layering propagation, the high pressure method is commonly used. Select 2-year-old strong lignified branches from the mother plant, peel them in a ring, fill bamboo tubes or plastic bags with soaked moss, peat or humus, put them around the branches, and tie them up. Pay attention to watering regularly and keeping it moist. Under normal circumstances, roots will take place in about 1 month. After taking root, the mother plant can be cut off and potted to become a new plant.

3. Propagation by division, select a plant with strong growth and dense branches. After taking it out of the pot, cut off a part of the plant from the root, and then pot it up to become a new plant. Division is usually done in late autumn or early spring when the plants are dormant.

Never divide the plants during the growing season
