Pruning time of jujube tree
Jujube trees are pruned twice a year, mainly in winter and summer. Summer pruning time is May-June, which can be advanced in the south, but not in the north. The pruning time in winter is from defoliation to germination in the second year. Timely pruning can inhibit the crazy growth of jujube head, reduce nutrient consumption and improve fruit setting rate.
Pruning method of jujube tree
1, thinning branches
If jujube trees grow vigorously and have dense branches and leaves, it will lead to insufficient internal ventilation and light transmission, and more pests and diseases. Dense branches, diseased branches, cross branches and twigs in cavities can all be cut off, and pruning from the base can promote the normal growth of jujube trees.
2. Shortcuts
If the first half of the new branches of jujube trees are thick and the back is gradually dry, it is necessary to do a good job of cutting them short, which can promote the emergence of new branches, increase the number of branches and make them grow more luxuriantly.
3. Shrinkage and shearing
If the jujube branches droop because of a large number of fruits, or the growth is gradually weak, they need to be trimmed moderately, usually at the branches. We should know that the retraction of thick branches can rejuvenate, but the retraction of thin branches will inhibit the normal growth of plants.
Step 4 pull the branches
If the jujube tree grows unevenly, it can be pulled to change its overall shape, increase light transmission and ventilation, and pull a certain angle with the help of iron wire or rope to make the inner branches or long branches have enough growth space.
