Is the north suitable for planting kapok?
Kapok is a tropical tree species, and the winter temperature in the north is too low to survive normally. Not suitable for planting kapok.

Belonging to tropical tree species, it likes high temperature and high humidity climate and has low cold tolerance. In case of long-term low temperature of 5 ~ 8℃, its branches suffer from freezing injury and avoid frost. Guangzhou, Nanning and other places in southern China can safely overwinter in the open field in normal years.

There is freezing injury in cold years, so potted plants can only be used in northern South China and even in vast areas of North China. It can be moved into greenhouse or indoor in winter, and the room temperature shall not be lower than 10℃. They like light, are not tolerant of shade, and are resistant to hot sun and high temperature.

Products tend to shrink into a ball. Calyx cup-shaped, thick leathery, 2 ~ 2~ 100px in length, 1.5 ~ 75 px in diameter, 3-or 5-lobed at the top, round and obtuse, with round lobes; The outer surface is brown with longitudinal wrinkles, and the inner surface is short brown fluff. 5 petals, ovoid-obovate or lanceolate, 3 ~ 200 px long and1.5 ~ 87.5 px wide; The outer surface is light brown or light brown, densely covered with stellate hairs, and the inner surface is purple brown with sparse hairs. Stamens are numerous, the base is tubular, the outermost whorls are 5 bundles, and the stigma is 5-lobed. Slight breath, light taste, slightly sweet and slightly astringent.

It is not harsh on soil, suitable for sandy soil or clayey soil, and likes acidic soil. It has relatively weak resistance to water and moisture, high requirements for fertility, moderate general fertility and high dosage of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer.

The soil with lush flowers, bright colors, abundant water and high nitrogen fertilizer has lush foliage and many flowers, but the color is not bright. When planting, decomposed cake fertilizer or garbage should be applied as base fertilizer.

Topdressing phosphorus and potassium fertilizer before and during flowering will make the tree look ugly, but it is budding. In management, it can be cut off or pruned to make the crown plump, or 3 ~ 5 plants can be planted in one place to improve the ornamental effect.
