Most osmanthus varieties are not cold-tolerant. Only Jingui is a cold-resistant variety. Most varieties of osmanthus fragrans can grow healthily at minus 10. Jingui is the most suitable variety for planting in the north. Especially the Jingui variety in Henan Province in August. Or take Jingui as grafting ear and Ligustrum lucidum as rootstock. The grafted osmanthus fragrans can basically adapt to the normal growth at the low temperature of-15 degrees in the north.
It is best to plant Jingui in northern spring. Planting in autumn, the root system is not strong, and the new branches are too tender to survive the winter. Osmanthus fragrans grows healthily in the first year. In winter, the trunk can be wrapped with straw curtains and the trees covered with non-woven fabrics, which can resist MINUS 15 degrees Celsius. After three years, as long as you prune some branches and keep healthy main branches, you can spend the winter safely. How should the soil for planting osmanthus be configured?
Osmanthus fragrans can be divided into north and south varieties. Osmanthus fragrans, a southern variety, likes slightly acidic soil and can adapt to the soil below 7.2. The northern variety Jingui is more suitable for neutral soil or slightly alkaline soil. The soil should also meet the requirements of flowers for soil. Adequate nutrients, loose and breathable, no hardening, no water accumulation. The soil in the north is mostly alkaline, and the soil contains relatively little humus, so mixed soil can be used to plant osmanthus fragrans.
In fact, mixed soil is not difficult to configure. First, mix loose and breathable slightly acidic soil with (pastoral soil+humus soil). Then add fresh water and river sand to dilute the acidity of the soil and increase the permeability and drainage of the soil. To turn the soil into neutral soil, a small amount of lime and a small amount of "bone charcoal powder" can be added to the mixed soil. After fully mixing, it becomes neutral soil. Put it in an idle place, let it be exposed to the sun for about a month, and you can plant osmanthus trees. How about the daily management of osmanthus trees?
First, there are three environmental requirements for the conservation of osmanthus:
1, well ventilated, clean air, less precipitation, more dust, more automobile exhaust in the north or unclean air, not suitable for maintaining osmanthus fragrans, leaves are easily covered with dust, breathing is not smooth, it is easy to cause various germs, and it also affects the flowering of osmanthus fragrans. 2, sunshine should be sufficient. Osmanthus fragrans, a southern variety, is a little shade-tolerant, but Jingui likes light and can get at least 6 to 8 hours of light every day. Insufficient light will affect the growth and flower bud differentiation of osmanthus fragrans. Jingui variety is a variety with many flowers in the sun. When the temperature exceeds 35 degrees Celsius in summer, the flowerpots of osmanthus fragrans should be covered with grass curtains to protect plants from sunlight. Osmanthus fragrans likes humidity, but is not afraid of water accumulation in flower soil. When planting in the field, use a flat-bottomed mound to facilitate drainage. Permeable ceramic flowerpot for potted plants. When watering, master the method of "watering thoroughly without doing it". When the surface of the flower soil is dry, the osmanthus can be watered immediately.
The difficulty of maintenance is humidity. If osmanthus grows well, the humidity of the air should reach above 65%. The climate in the north is relatively dry. "The humidity is not enough and needs to be sprayed." Every morning and evening, wet the branches of osmanthus fragrans, topsoil and surrounding flowerpots twice. The high temperature drying season is increased to 3 to 5 times, and spraying is the best way to reduce temperature and increase humidity.
Second, reasonably grasp the scale to fertilize osmanthus fragrans: pay attention to the following five points:
1, the maintenance and fertilization of Osmanthus fragrans in the north is more troublesome, and the fertilizer water supplemented with "nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium" elements, or the solid fertilizer is mostly acidic. Fertilizers with different PH values should be used in turn when fertilizing osmanthus fragrans. 2. Use cooked "bean cake fertilizer" or "fermented animal manure water" twice a month to supplement various nutrients mainly containing "nitrogen" and promote root growth. Then use "phosphorus and potassium" to promote the root growth of osmanthus fragrans and improve the disease resistance. 3. Fertilizer and water are mostly acidic. Therefore, it is necessary to alternately use "plant ash water" to irrigate the flowered soil during fertilization. Apply "bone charcoal powder" to the flower soil. Balance the pH value of soil. 4. Pay attention to the balanced supplement of "nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium" in daily fertilization. After autumn, osmanthus will be pregnant. Once the temperature drops below 32 degrees Celsius, it is necessary to change the fertilization method in time and apply more "phosphorus and potassium" fertilizer. You can use "potassium dihydrogen phosphate" to add water 1500 times, irrigate the flower soil or spray foliar fertilizer on the leaves. Promote flowering and prolong flowering.
Three, the northern osmanthus tree pruning:
Pruning mainly aims at shaping, forming a full crown and promoting branch germination. Pruning in winter is beneficial to osmanthus. Sprouting in spring is beneficial to the growth of new buds. Summer pruning is mainly to promote the growth of lateral buds.
1, pruning should start in winter and stop fertilizing osmanthus trees in late autumn. When the temperature drops to 5 degrees Celsius, the main branches should be cut in winter, mainly to "retract" the long branches of that year. The tip of the new branch can hardly resist the cold. After pruning, put a straw curtain on the head of osmanthus tree. 2. After the branches of Osmanthus fragrans shrink in winter, many buds will sprout in spring. The budding point is ignored. When the budding point is about 10 cm long, the bud is smeared. Erase all weak buds, adventitious buds and dense buds on the branches and make corresponding choices. 3. In late spring and early summer, select branches, axillary branches, whorled branches, vertical downward (upper) branches, etc. And do pruning to reduce nutrient consumption. Trim the tendrils to promote more lateral buds. After the lateral buds grow, pay attention to avoid high temperature exposure in summer.
The above is the experience of maintaining osmanthus trees in the north. I hope my experience can help the flower friends who love osmanthus trees in the north.
