The map of the world is shown in the following figure:

The National Basic Geographic Information Center completed the production of the first projected world map "Equal Earth" in China, and passed the map review.

The size of the map is 155cm * 90cm, adopting a spherical style, with east longitude 150 as the central meridian, and China is in the center of the map. Using the latest geographic information data, the national administrative regions, capitals and important cities, major rivers, peaks and mountains, major islands and islands of all countries (regions) in the world are displayed.

Equal-earth projection is a new kind of equal-area pseudo-cylindrical projection. The latitude lines of the projected world map are parallel straight lines and the longitude lines are equally spaced. The length-width ratio is 1: 2.05458, and the length of the polar line is 0.59247 times that of the equator, which is similar to a drum. The weighted median error of overall scale deformation is 0.37, and the average angular deformation is 29.07.

Extended data:

Compared with the world map with multi-cone projection at equal latitude, both of them are "drum-shaped", as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2. At the same scale, the "drum" shape of the world map projected by Equal Earth is slightly flat, because from the equator to the poles, the latitude distance gradually decreases to maintain the correct area proportion relationship on the map;

The map of the world projected by the equal earth shows the real area ratio of all countries in the world, which is more convenient for people to correctly understand the territory of all countries in the world.

Moreover, the continent in the isometric map is beautiful in appearance, similar to the continent presented on a sphere, and visually closer to people's feeling of the earth. Therefore, the projected map of the equal earth world is suitable for the spatial visualization of natural, economic and social phenomena around the world, and will play an important role in government decision-making, scientific research, geography education in primary and secondary schools, and the popularization of map knowledge.
