XF series adopts many advanced technologies.
XF series is Canon's first portable professional camera with memory card built with many advanced technologies and specifications. On its body, it contains many advanced technologies, such as 4:2:2 color sampling rate, MPEG-2 long GOP coding format, recording rate up to 50Mpbs, recording image data based on file format with CF card media, adopting advanced industry standard MXF(materile Xchange Format) as packaging format, and enhancing the anti-shake ability of telephoto end and wide-angle end, such as strong anti-shake and dynamic anti-shake.
Color sampling rate
The highest color sampling rate of XF series is 4:2:2. Color sampling rate refers to the ratio of brightness to two color differences when a color signal is converted into a digital signal. It takes advantage of the characteristics that human eyes are sensitive to brightness and slow in color change, and samples the color difference signal at intervals, thus achieving the purpose of compressing the data volume. Compared with the 4:2:0 color sampling rate of mainstream portable professional digital cameras, the 4:2:2 color sampling rate has better color reproducibility, and the subject contour will not appear sawtooth, which can play a greater advantage in key composite shooting.
MPEG-2 Long GOP Coding Format
XF series adopts LongGOP format of MPEG-2, which is compressed across complex frames. This coding format is widely used in radio and television production systems. A group of pictures (GOP) represents a group of pictures, and a GOP is a continuous group of pictures. GOP strategy affects coding quality. The longer the GOP length of MPEG-2, the higher the image compression efficiency, and the higher the image restoration quality under the premise of the same code stream and the same coding format. In the professional camera market, MPEG-2LongGOP and shoulder camera with 4:2:2 color sampling rate are very expensive. Canon introduced them into portable models at competitive prices, which is of epoch-making significance.
MXF packaging format
XF series adopts "MXF(Materiale Xchange Format)" packaging format, which is a file exchange standard format adopted by SMPTE (American Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers) and used in broadcasting industry. When the TV station and other systems use the material server supporting MXF format, XF series can upload the shot material directly to the server, and search the required image through MXF metadata on the server, and download the file to the computer for editing conveniently, giving full play to the advantages of digital production.
