Does breast augmentation prosthesis choose water drop shape or round shape?
Breast augmentation prostheses used for breast augmentation mainly have two shapes: drop-shaped breast augmentation prosthesis (anatomical breast augmentation prosthesis) and circular breast augmentation prosthesis. Circular breast augmentation prosthesis has been used for decades, and it is the most used prosthesis so far. Water-drop breast augmentation is a kind of breast prosthesis shape that has gradually become popular in recent years. Water-drop prosthesis is highly praised by many plastic surgeons because its shape is closer to the real breast and the effect after breast enhancement looks more natural. However, the drop-shaped breast augmentation prosthesis also has its limitations.

1: Choosing a drop-shaped prosthesis for breast enhancement has the risk of prosthesis rotation. The upper part of the water-drop breast prosthesis is flat, while the lower part is full and asymmetrical, similar to the natural breast. After the prosthesis is implanted in the body, because the prosthesis is movable, it is possible to make the lower part of the prosthesis rotate to the upper part of the breast, so that the shape of the breast changes from large to small and becomes a strange breast shape with large and small.

2. Breast enhancement with water drop prosthesis is limited by surgical incision. The advantage of using axillary incision in breast enhancement surgery is that the incision is hidden. However, due to the relatively complicated breast enhancement method of water drop prosthesis, it is almost impossible to use conventional axillary incision surgery. Therefore, breast enhancement surgery with water-drop prosthesis generally chooses areola incision or inframammary fold incision. The incision of the lower fold is daunting because of the obvious scar after operation. In patients with small areola, areola incision is difficult to operate.

3. In some cases, the advantages of water-drop prosthesis are not obvious. The reason why the drop-shaped prosthesis is highly praised by many plastic surgeons is that the breast shape after breast enhancement is more realistic and natural. But if the prosthesis is implanted into the pectoral muscle, the effect is basically the same as that of a circular prosthesis. When the breast tissue is thin, the prosthesis can only be implanted behind the pectoral muscle.
