Nasopharyngeal swab:
One hand of the sampler gently holds the head of the person being collected, and the other hand holds the cotton swab. The cotton swab sticks to the nostril and slowly penetrates backwards along the bottom of the inferior nasal passage. Because the nasal passage is curved, it is not allowed to use too much force to avoid traumatic bleeding. When the top of the cotton swab reaches the back wall of nasopharyngeal cavity, gently rotate it once, then slowly take out the cotton swab, immerse the cotton swab head in a test tube containing 2 ~ 3 ml virus preservation solution, discard the tail and tighten the tube cover.
Swallow swab:
The collector gargles with normal saline, and the collector moistens the swab with sterile normal saline. The collected person's head is slightly tilted, his mouth is wide open, and he makes an "ah" sound, exposing the tonsils on both sides, using a cotton swab to cross the base of the tongue for at least 3 times, then wiping it up and down the posterior pharyngeal wall for at least 3 times, immersing the cotton swab head in a test tube containing 2-3 ml virus preservation solution, discarding the tail and tightening the test tube. The throat swab can also be placed in the same test tube as the nasopharyngeal swab.
