How does colored lead express strong light?
Practice goal: Through the analysis of the picture, express the strong light in the picture.

Expected effect: the strong light effect is expressed through the contrast between light and shade.

Practice results: the strong light of the main object is very good, but the light and shadow on the water are not strong and the texture is stiff.

Image analysis:

The color of the original picture was originally a gray low saturation picture effect under strong light. I hope to highlight bright colors and create a lively picture effect, so I improve the saturation and contrast of the whole picture to the highest, and I also see more colors hidden in the picture.

In addition, in order to confirm the relationship between sketch and light and shadow more conveniently, I turned the picture into black and white. It is easy to find that under strong light, the black and white contrast of the whole picture is very strong, the proportion of "gray" is low, and the whole picture is in a state of "bright" and "dark". I think the main object is under ambient light, and the sun shines directly from top to bottom.

Painting steps:

Find problems and solutions:

In the second step, when I painted with a marker, I boldly pressed down the heavy color in the picture. But this step caused the original swan color distortion of the main object. Under the strong light, the swan should still be white, and its feathers are slightly yellow, green, blue and purple due to the influence of ambient light. But I emphasized the color when paving. On the one hand, the marker doesn't have a light color. In order to make the texture even, I painted it several times, and the color was heavy.

Solution: Brighten the whole heavy color area with white.

At first, I was afraid to do it. In fact, what I like in the last step is the heavy color modeling, for fear that white will cover up the rich color and sense of volume. After covering, it is found that there is a kind of covering dyeing effect of oil painting-the swan is like being brushed with a layer of lime powder, and the original color is still there, but it is not so bold, more subtle and has a sense of volume. On this basis, I appropriately added the ambient color to highlight the dark part.

After adjustment, compare the brightness of the original image with that of the picture:

After comparison, I found that in some places, in order to highlight the contrast, the dark color is too heavy and unnatural, which violates the authenticity of the picture. For example, the swan on the right, the shadow of its neck and wings, and the brightness of water waves all need to be improved. This is where I can adjust when I continue to refine in the next step.

Summary:

I think my greatest progress in painting this painting is that I began to judge colors independently and dare to write boldly. Although the efficiency is not high, I need to find the confidence that I can draw. I have been learning painting for almost a year and a half. Although I have to admit that my interest in painting is not as strong as before, my patience is also declining. But I still hope to draw something that really satisfies me. Although the painting has always been very general, I think good works are changed. As long as I am patient and willing to study the problems in my painting and really solve them, one day I can draw the effect I want.
