The more silver in gold, the bluer the color; If the proportion of copper is large, the color is purple; The greater the proportion of palladium, lead and platinum, the whiter it is.
Gold bars and ornaments can be adulterated, for example, adding silver and copper can obviously improve the hardness of gold; Containing arsenic, lead, platinum, silver, bismuth and tellurium will make gold brittle. If lead is added, the change of gold will be more prominent. Only the alloy with lead content of 1% will become fragments during strong stamping, and the original good ductility of gold will disappear completely. However, it is difficult for us to find it with the naked eye. Good ductility will be completely lost. But the naked eye can't see the difference.
Second, the bromine chemical test
Chemical reagent test can also test the authenticity of gold through chemical changes. First, we put the gold ornaments in the alcohol solution, shake them gently, and then immerse a piece of filter paper in the alcohol solution. At this time, the filter paper will turn gray-purple. We drop 4 drops of bromine-a reagent-on the filter paper. If the test paper turns white, it can be preliminarily judged that this jewelry is gold jewelry.
Third, magnet testing.
This is a simple test, but it is not a sufficient proof to prove whether it is real gold. You can find a powerful magnet to do the test.
Gold is not a magnetic metal. If your product is attracted by magnets, it is enough to prove that this product is not gold. But you can't prove that your product is gold just because you don't respond to magnets, because there are many non-magnetic metals.
4. Density test Only a few metals have higher density than gold. The density of pure 24K gold is about 19.3g/ml, which is much higher than other metals, and is about twice as heavy as silver, lead and tin with the same volume. We generally don't have relevant density detection equipment ourselves, but many large jewelry stores have corresponding detection equipment to help with the detection.
Listening to the sound Because of the high density and good ductility of gold, it usually makes a dull sound when hitting high-quality gold jewelry. If you throw it on the hard ground, it has no rhythm and no elasticity. On the contrary, gold with low color is the opposite. The louder the sound, the more elastic it is.
