Iges is generated for surface model loop ... Many industrial design and product design software support this format.

If you want to import characters from rhinoceros into MAYA, you can use this format ... but you'd better check the iges option in MAYA's plug-in bar first to avoid mistakes. (I wonder if rhinoceros can export FBX, and Maya also supports it)
