The basic theory of gemology and related laws and regulations and gemology professional knowledge are theoretical examination and closed-book written examination; Gem Identification and Diamond Identification and Classification are practical examinations, and candidates need to use instruments for practical operation.
The 4.CGC exam is held every two years, usually in early July, and the single subject exam lasts for 3 hours.
