Because he knew that seabirds always flew to places where there was food suitable for them to live, he expected that there might be land nearby.
In this way, Columbus discovered the new continent of America.
It is conceivable that if Columbus continued to wait at that time, he would waste his life and enter the coffin with regrets about his unfinished dream. The discoverer of the American continent will be someone else and will never belong to Columbus.
