To obtain a secondary school degree in jewelry and jade (including geology), you must be engaged in jewelry and jade appraisal and inspection for 5 years. Non-professional technical secondary school education, must be engaged in professional work for 7 years. Obtain a college degree in related major and have been engaged in professional work for 2 years. Non-professional college degree, engaged in professional work for 4 years.
The appraiser's exam can be taken in Jewelry College of China Geo University (Wuhan) once every two years, usually in early July. Each exam takes three hours. State-recognized quality inspector for jewelry and jade. The organizers are the Ministry of Personnel and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
Anyone who meets one of the following conditions can apply for GAC Gemological Appraiser Certificate Examination: (1) Those who have a junior college (higher vocational school) or above in gemology, mineralogy, petrology and other jewelry-related majors or equivalent. (2) Having a college degree or above or equivalent, and having been engaged in relevant work in the jewelry industry for more than 3 years.
If you pass the CGC exam, you can get the qualification certificate of jewelry appraiser. The qualification examination of jewelry appraisers is divided into four courses: basic theory of gemology and related laws and regulations, professional knowledge of gemology, gem appraisal and diamond appraisal classification.
