Peshawar is an ancient city on the Pakistani border, only 40 kilometers away from Afghanistan and more than 400 kilometers away from China. Since ancient times, it has been an important commercial and cultural center, connecting the trade between South Asia and Central Asia.
In ancient Sanskrit, Peshawar means "Flower City". Peshawar was once the capital of Gandhara. As the birthplace of Gandhara art, Peshawar Museum has preserved the largest number of statues and collections of Gandhara art in the world.
