Types of canvas
There are many kinds of canvas, such as cotton, linen and silk. Cotton cloth is the most common canvas material, which has good elasticity and durability, and is suitable for various painting styles and techniques. Flax is a high-grade canvas material, with fine texture and good oil absorption, which is suitable for painting delicate portraits and landscapes. Silk cloth is a luxurious choice, with smooth surface and strong ability to restore details, which is suitable for painting fine details.
Choose the right canvas
When choosing the right canvas, you need to consider the following factors:
1. Painting styles and techniques: Different painting styles and techniques require different canvas materials. If you like to draw fine details, silk is a good choice. If you like to draw rough strokes and heavy textures, cotton cloth is more suitable for you.
2. Painting size: Canvas has different sizes to choose from. You need to choose the right canvas according to your painting size. If you like to draw large works, a large canvas is necessary.
3. Quality and durability: High-quality canvases can guarantee the quality and durability of paintings. When choosing a canvas, you can choose the products of some famous brands or professional art shops, which can ensure the quality and durability of the canvas.
Use canvas
1. Preparation: First, prepare the materials needed for painting, including paint, brush, canvas and palette. Ensure that the working area is clean and tidy so as not to affect the painting effect.
2. Straighten the canvas: take the canvas out of the package and fix it on the easel with a clip. Then, gently straighten the canvas by hand to make it close to the easel to avoid wrinkling or relaxation.
3. Priming: coating a layer of background color on the canvas can provide a good painting surface and enhance the adhesion of pigments. Commonly used background colors are white, gray and khaki, which can be selected according to your own needs.
4. Painting: Before painting, you can mix the required pigments on the palette. Then, paint the paint evenly on the canvas with a brush and paint according to your own creative intention.
5. Drying and finishing: After painting, put the canvas in a ventilated and dry place and wait for the paint to dry completely. If the work needs pruning, it can be pruned after drying, such as adding details or adjusting colors.
