Juliet's former residence scenic spot
In the midsummer of August, we came to the gentle hometown of Verona and entered this ancient and antique town along the beautiful Adige River. Green water flows quietly around the city, and there are flowers and trees inside and outside the city. Leaning against the railing by the river, you can see the light blue Alps winding across the European continent. Stroll along the river into the old city, walk on the road paved with bluestones, surrounded by European classical buildings, tall and solid city walls, songkhla red and yellow, lifelike sculptures on the walls, colorful pictures, patterns and stone carvings of people and animals can often be seen around the windows, and you can also see the broken walls of castles and ancient churches. Although these buildings are old, they still retain the exquisiteness and style of medieval architecture.

Along the road paved with not spacious, clean and slightly old stones, we first came to the Via delle Arche Scaligeri. The street is quiet, only a few tourists. This is a castle-like building, with red walls, unpretentious appearance and not much decoration, which matches with other buildings and dilapidated castles on both sides of the street. The tall brown door was closed. On the left side of the gate is engraved: On the right side of Casady Monteggi's house is engraved a line from Romeo and Juliet in which Juliet calls Romeo: ". . . . My Romeo, where are you? . . . "The words of the later owner are engraved below: Romeo is really not here. It is said that because the host was tired of tourists coming here to look for Romeo, he specially told Romeo that he was no longer here, and he had wandered around the world. This ancient house once belonged to the wealthy Nogaro La family in Verona in the 4th century A.D./KLOC-0, but it has changed owners many times and is not open to the public at present.

Leave Romeo's residence, walk on the gravel road, cross several quiet blocks, enter a busy market, and pass through Capello, which is not wide. Cappello is the Italian language of Capello Park Jung Su in Shakespeare's plays, and it is the surname of Juliet's family. The people in the street are bustling, and the streets are lined with shops, clothing, jewelry, handicrafts and food. Juliet's former residence, Shakespeare's love nest, is located at 2 1 Capello Road. There is a striking house number on the gate, with a brown background and white Italian: Casa di Giulietta. This is an old house bought by the city government of Verona. After the renovation, it was specially opened to tourists as Juliet's former residence.

From the appearance, Juliet's old residence is smaller than Romeo's old residence. This is a Roman-style building with a tall gray and reddish-brown exterior wall. Different from Romeo's former residence, its wide arched door is completely open, and the door and the door are crowded with people. The wall of this courtyard is the famous "Love Wall". It is said that this wall has magical functions. Writing the names of two lovers together can make their love last forever. The wall is densely covered with two names linked together in various languages, circled with heart, pierced with Cupid's arrow, and decorated with various colors and patterns, expressing the endless pursuit and longing for love from generation to generation.

Entering the gate, I entered an antique courtyard, a house with walls on three sides, three stories high, cobblestone floor, and green gloomy branches and vines hanging on the brown wall. On the front of the gate, near the courtyard wall, is a bronze statue of Juliet, slightly taller than the real person. Behind the statue are ivy and green plants. Young Juliet is slim and wearing a strapless evening dress. Her face is elegant, noble and lovely, her hair is held high behind her head, her left hand is bent and gently placed on her chest, and her right hand slightly lifts a sweeping skirt. Her eyes are clear and euphemistic, and her body is covered with green vines. It is said that if you touch Juliet's right breast and make a wish, you can get her sincere blessing, and everything will be fine.

On the right side of the yard, look up slightly, about 4 or 5 meters high, and you can see the world-famous "Juliet Balcony". The balcony is not big, with simple patterns carved outside, and two small windows can be seen on both sides. It is under this balcony that Shakespeare's Romeo and his lover Juliet secretly meet, tell each other their feelings, climb up from this balcony, and live a private life with Juliet. Tourists are taking pictures on the balcony, trying to share this incomparable love. If there were not so many tourists, this small yard would be very quiet. The noise in the street is separated by deep and heavy doors, and the yard has its own elegant world. Looking from the window or balcony, there are blue sky, sunshine and white clouds above, and the yard is covered with green vines and gray-yellow ancient walls.

The place of love

Only the right part of this ancient house has been restored and opened to the public. Walking into the reception hall of the former residence, murals were hung on the wall, and Shakespeare's head sculpture was placed in the corner, with curly hair, intelligent eyes and gentle and profound expression. There is an eye-catching bracket next to the dark purple wooden stairs, on which there is a big wooden open book. The left page is the stills of 1936 black-and-white movie Romeo and Juliet, and the two are snuggling together sweetly, and the right page is the dialogue between the two in Shakespeare's play. Go up the stairs and enter the interior of the former residence.

There are more than a dozen open rooms upstairs, equipped with simple furniture and furnishings such as tables, chairs and cabinets. The color form is simple and solemn. In the center of the hall on the second floor, there is a circle of glass tables and cabinets, which contain paintings drawn by famous painters of various periods according to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Their manners, techniques and styles are different, but they are all trying their best to express the artist's understanding and re-creation of Shakespeare's characters. The open book guided us to browse all the rooms where Juliet lived, and also experienced the course of love and the destruction of love with her.

According to the theme of different rooms, the plot of folio also extends all the way, such as love at first sight, meeting in the bedroom, priest's marriage, Juliet's refusal to get married, masquerade, cemetery double suicide and so on. Accompanied by Shakespeare's beautiful poems, the voices of Juliet and Romeo seemed to sway in the room:

Romeo:

Ah! The torch is far less bright than hers; Her charming face hangs on the dusk, like a bright pearl ring in the slave's ear; She is a pearl in the sky.

Juliet:

Run fast, step on the flaming horse and drag the sun back to its resting place; Open your thick curtains and finish the night of love! Cover Nightcrawler's eyes and let Romeo fall into my arms quietly.

Soft night! Come on, lovely night, give me my Romeo!

Juliet's bedroom is the most fully furnished room, with a comfortable and soft big bed and Romeo and Juliet's clothes hanging in the cupboard. In the open book, Juliet is sitting on the bed, and Romeo, who entered the room from the balcony, is also leaning on the bed, facing her and showing her true feelings leisurely.

The classic film "The Former Residence of Juliet" was shot on 1936, directed by George Cukor, with leslie howard as Romeo and norma shearer as Juliet. The film is faithful to Shakespeare's original work, basically retaining the original aesthetic and classical stage style and a large number of aesthetic and romantic lines in the play, and using the special technology and charm of the film, it successfully creates a dreamy and smooth visual effect. Romeo played by Howard is handsome, while Juliet played by Norma is charming and refined. Although the actors are older now, their superb acting skills successfully reproduce the beautiful and amazing love classics. The film was nominated for Best Picture, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor at the Academy Awards.

Letters to Juliet

Love transcends time and space. In the former residence, there is a big and thick book for tourists who want to express their feelings to sign and leave messages in the traditional way. The high technology of the new era is also fully used to convey the message of love. In a small hall upstairs, there are four computers back to back. The theme of the room is: a letter to Juliet. Visitors can write to Juliet in English or Italian, tell her their wishes, ask her for advice and blessings, and it is said that they can also receive her reply. I didn't want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so I got together and wrote a letter to Juliet:

"Dear Juliet, please accept my best wishes. May you and your beloved Romeo become the happiest couple in heaven, and may your love spread from heaven to earth. " Unfortunately, I forgot to leave my email address in the letter. I guess I won't get Juliet's reply.

The apron embroidered with love left Juliet's old residence, and there was a shop specializing in embroidery on the apron on the love wall next to the gate. The wall of love is so thick that some shops have been hollowed out and opened. This embroidery shop is also a major feature of Verona, and similar shops are all over the streets. This shop is spacious, with the front door on the street and the back door facing Juliet's yard. Visitors can choose any apron in the store, and the store will embroider words on the apron according to the wishes of tourists, mostly the names of lovers or express their love. The characters embroidered by the store depict dragons and embroidered phoenixes. You can also choose fonts and colors, and match them with finely cut linen aprons, which is of great artistic appreciation value. If a male tourist wants to give his lover a gift for a love trip, it is an ingenious choice. An embroidered apron, 15 to 20 euros. The Italian young man who works next to the sewing machine in Aiqiang Store is modest, enthusiastic and considerate. I took a picture of him. He was so happy that he embroidered my name on a piece of cloth for me.

Verona also has Juliet's grave and sarcophagus, where she and Romeo finally died. We didn't go to visit because it was closed that day. It is said that the ancient tomb is not well preserved and it is a desolate scene.

After visiting Juliet's old home, the setting sun slanted on the street, tourists flooded, and people and shops on the street were covered with golden luster. There are men and women wearing masks posing as classical masquerade balls for people to take pictures on the street, as well as married gypsies with children and long skirts, all of which are very lively. Business in the shop is very good. Souvenirs of Romeo and Juliet can be found everywhere. There are many hotels, restaurants, shops and various commodities named after Romeo or Juliet inside and outside the city.

The Eternity of Love Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet premiered at the end of 16, which has a history of 500 years. Its great influence has caused other art forms to be recreated many times. Ballet, ballet, opera and even China's Peking Opera are reinterpreting this classic. Painting, sculpture, music, etc. There are countless. Five of them were filmed.
