Zhang Yi and Su Qin learn from Guiguzi.
Su Qin first went to the state of Qin to lobby the king of Qin to go to Wang Ba, but it was not adopted. After returning to China, Su Qin studied the Yin Fu Jing transmitted by Jiang Taigong (Lv Shang) for several years, puzzling over the reasons why his views were not adopted, and further studying the general trend of the world at that time. He changed his strategy and turned to lobby the monarchs of Yan, Zhao, Han, Wei, Qi and Chu to unite and reject Qin. When adopting the strategy, Su Qin was regarded as the leader of the six-nation alliance, that is, the phase of the six-nation alliance. When the joint strategy came out, I dared not go east to Hangu Pass fifteen years later. It's a pity that Su Qin was assassinated after more than ten years in Qi.
From arrogance to humility
Su Qin, a famous strategist in the Warring States Period, was originally from Luoyang, and once took Guiguzi as his teacher. Before he became famous, he lobbied abroad for several years, but he was not adopted by the monarch and returned in frustration.
When he got home, his family didn't understand him or even looked down on him, so he became angry and studied hard. Finally, I realized the essence of this book in Zhou Shu and Tai Gong Yin Fu. So Su Qin went to other countries to lobby, and finally Yan, Zhao, Qi, Chu, Han and Wei all adopted his joint policy and fought against Qin, so Su Qin became the prime minister of the six countries.
When Su Qin became famous and shared weal and woe, the elders in his hometown warmly welcomed him on the street. Su Qin's parents met him at the intersection 30 miles away. His wife was too scared to look him in the eye, and his sister-in-law fell to the ground. Seeing this, Su Qin couldn't help asking her sister-in-law: "Why did you look so arrogant before, but now you look so humble?" Sister-in-law said in shame, "Because you are a high-ranking and rich man now!" " Hearing this, Su Qin sighed and said, "Alas! It's me. When I was poor, even my parents didn't treat me as a son. When I was rich, my relatives and friends were afraid of me. Life, status and wealth are really not to be ignored for ordinary people! 」
Later, the idiom "learn in adversity and respect in adversity" was quoted to describe that snobs have different attitudes towards people. Also known as "humble before".

Sun Jing: the allusion of hanging beam overhead
See "Taiping Yu Lan": "Sun Nai is a treasure of literature, eager to learn, and never stops in the morning and evening. When you are tired of sleeping, tie your head with a rope and hang the housing beam. Later he was a contemporary scholar. 」
During the Han Dynasty, Sun Jing, a writer, was a believer and liked reading very much. In ancient times, paper was rare, so he cut wicker into thin slices, compiled books, borrowed books from others, copied them himself, studied late all day, and rarely went out all year round. When he goes to the market occasionally, people point at him behind his back and call him "Mr. Close the door".
Sun Jing studies very hard and often reads in front of a lonely lamp until late at night. He was afraid that he would fall asleep when he was tired, so he came up with a clever plan: tie his hair to the beam above the house, tie a bun rope at one end and hang it on the beam at the other. In this way, once you bow your head and close your eyes and doze off, the rope on your head will tighten your hair and touch your scalp, so that you can wake up and continue reading. Because of such hard study, Sun Jing's fame spread all over the world.
Su Qin: The allusion of spur stocks.
Look at the warring States policy? Qin Ce: "Su Qin tried to sleep when he was studying, so he stabbed himself in the thigh and bled to his feet. 」
Su Qin, a native of Luoyang in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, was a family businessman. A disciple of Guiguzi, skilled in vertical and horizontal techniques, is determined to be an official and govern the country.
Su Qin shared his wealth, customized Hanfu and bought a very tall bike. First of all, he took a fancy to the strength of Qin, but went straight to Qin to lobby Qin Huiwen. Although Su Qin speaks eloquently, the king of Qin is unmoved; After that, Su Qin wrote ten more letters, which were not adopted by the king of Qin. Finally, his mink coat was torn and the gold was used up, so he went home in a mess.
Su Qin returned home, his wife was weaving, and looked up to continue weaving; My brother looked down on him, my sister-in-law sneered and refused to cook for him, and my parents ignored him. Su Qin ashamed, sighed with emotion. So without saying a word, I shut myself in a small room and reflect on myself; So, I study hard and make continuous progress.
Su Qin took out all the books, especially studied Jiang Taigong's "Ode to Songs" and other art books, stayed at home every day, studied hard at his desk day and night, memorized the main points of the book, studied its original intention deeply, studied it repeatedly and scrutinized it carefully. In order not to be lazy, he prepared a sharp awl at his desk. Whenever he dozed off reading at night, Su Qin poked him in the thigh with an awl. Sometimes, because of strong stab wounds, blood flows down his knees to his heels. Because of the stabbing pain, Su Qin continued to study, driving away drowsiness and refreshing himself. This is the story of the awl thorn stock.
In addition to the art of war, Su Qin also studied books on medicine, agriculture and economy, and also dabbled in ancient laws, letters and other classics, and then made detailed research and analysis on the geography, mountains, rivers, military affairs, politics and products of various countries, constantly trying to figure out the world trend; So Su Qin realized the strategy of uniting Lian Heng.
After more than a year, Su Qin borrowed money from his younger brothers Su Dai and Su Li, packed his bags again, ran away from home, and continued to lobby the governors to show his ambitions and ideals.
Su Qin went to see Zhou first and then Zhao; But they either look down on him or don't want to use him. Finally, he went to Yan State and waited for a whole year before the prince received him. He seized this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and said to the prince, "Your country is a land of abundance because of its dangerous terrain and rich products. 」
Su Qin continued: "Your country has always been the most stable, with the least wars. Do you know why? This is all because your geographical location is very suitable. The west is adjacent to Zhao, while the west of Zhao is adjacent to Qin. Zhao and Qin have been fighting, and Yan Guo can be safe. " Su Qin went on to say, "If the State of Qin wants to attack the State of Yan, it must travel thousands of miles and cross the State of Zhao before it can succeed. Even if Yan was captured, Qin could not hold on, so Qin was not a threat to Yan. On the other hand, Zhao can easily attack Yan. So Yan is afraid of Zhao, not Qin. Therefore, the best way to preserve Yan State is to form an alliance with Zhao State to jointly resist Qin State. 」
When the prince heard this, he felt very reasonable and appointed Su Qin as the Prime Minister. In addition, a large number of gold, silver, jewels and carriages were prepared, and Su Qin was sent to Zhao to lobby Zhao to form an alliance with Yan.
When Su Qin arrived in Zhao, he persuaded the prince of Zhao without any obstacles and promised to form an alliance with the other five countries. Zhao also appointed Su Qin as Prime Minister, sealed him many possessions and joined the alliance. Then, Su Qin lobbied Korea, Wei, Qi and Chu to adopt the policy of "integration" and form an alliance against the powerful State of Qin. Everyone regards Su Qin as the leader of this alliance, and at the same time worships him as the prime minister of the six countries, giving Su Qin rich treasures. The six countries joined forces to resist Qin, who was too scared to leave Hangu Pass for fifteen years.
Later generations derived this idiom from Su Qin's awl thorn stock & Sun Jing's hanging beam above his head, which is used to describe people who study hard.
The two sides disagreed and fought like kilkenny cats, which made the third party take advantage.
Zhao wanted to attack the State of Yan, and lobbied King Hui of Zhao for the State of Yan, saying, "Today, when I went to your country and passed through Yishui, I saw a clam shell basking in the sun, and a snipe flew to peck at its meat. The mussel immediately closed its double shell and clamped the snipe's long mouth. The snipe said,' It won't rain today, and it won't rain tomorrow. Soon you will be killed by the sun.' The mussel also said to the snipe,' I won't let you go today, and I won't let you go tomorrow. Soon you will become a dead snipe. None of them let anyone pass by, and a fisherman took them all away. Now Zhao is going to attack Yan. If the stalemate between Yan and Zhao continues for a long time, the people of both countries will be exhausted. I'm worried that the powerful Qin will become a fisherman for nothing. So I hope the king can seriously consider sending troops. "King Hui of Zhao said," All right. " So he stopped sending troops to attack Yan.
Later, people condensed this story into the idiom "the snipe and the clam strive for each other", which is used to mean that the two sides are at loggerheads, arguing with each other and not giving in to each other, so that a third party can profit from it.
