Morphology of Jade Watermelon
According to legend, Empress Dowager Cixi had a jewelry room in the Summer Palace, surrounded by ebony cabinets filled with large and small glass brocade boxes wrapped in embroidered satin and beautifully decorated. There are many kinds of jewelry, such as gold and silver, precious stones, pearls, agate, jadeite and coral. Among thousands of treasures, her favorite is a pair of emerald watermelons. Cixi loved these two jade watermelons as much as her life, and put them in the strongest cabinet with mechanical locks on it. If you want to open this lock, you must insert the key into the lock cylinder and turn left five times. If the direction is wrong, it cannot be unlocked. Cixi sent several trusted eunuchs, in groups of three, to closely guard the jewelry room day and night. Whenever she is happy, let the eunuch take out the jade watermelon and enjoy it. She often boasts that this is a rare treasure in the world!
