According to the national standard GB/T 16552—2003, nephrite whose main mineral is tremolite can be called Hetian jade, and Hetian jade can also be called nephrite. In addition to China and Xinjiang, there are more than 120 tremolite jade deposits in the world, distributed in more than 20 countries and regions. These deposits belong to serpentine tremolite jade, mainly jasper, and white jade is produced in Russia, South Korea and North Korea. Only Hetian jade in Xinjiang belongs to non-serpentine tremolite jade because of its special geological formation.
Xinjiang white "sub-material" is oval, generally small in size, smooth in shape and dense in texture. White is the best color, and skin is an important appearance feature of the material.
